"Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." - Steve Jordan, an accomplished drummer, grammy award-winning artist, and musical legend.
This guy's story is inspiring, to say the least. Growing up in the Bronx, he was surrounded by incredible A-list drummers that were, according to Jordan, a lot better than him. Many of these professionals lived on the outskirts of the city because "they've done so well."
Jordan, a mediocre drummer with big hopes at the time, lived within the city, the slums. His career took off when a massive snow storm paralyzed NYC. 18-22 inches of snow shut down every block and silenced the streets. In spite of the storm, there remained numerous high-profile studio sessions within the city, but none of the scheduled professionals were able to drive there to record them. Jordan was "the only guy around" to play these sessions. "It was fantastic," he said.
Out of this blizzard, a legend was made.
